vtrans

bridging the gap

Based on the ancotel vmmr concept as a convergent virtual multi-service platform, vtrans creates the parameters for directly connecting up Ethernet networks via SDH infrastructures. Expanded Ethernet services and reliable, tried-and-tested SDH services can be used in tandem within a single network, thanks to this product which seamlessly brings the two technologies together. vtrans is available at all ancotel group locations.

Wait or make the switch? Do both!

On the one hand, there is huge potential for profitable and forward-looking services in carrier Ethernet. But on the other hand, many carriers are unable or are not quite ready to switch to a 100% Ethernet network.

ancotel vtrans combines package-optimised Ethernet technology with the real time-optimised TDM process in SDH networks.

ancotel clients benefit from the cost-effectiveness and flexibility of the Ethernet technology whilst simultaneously having access to the usual performance and reliability of conventional SDH features.

Flexible Ethernet via robust SDH networks

With ancotel vtrans, the Ethernet frames are encapsulated in virtual SDH containers and transmitted via SDH using generic frame protocols (GFP). The fine-grained allocation of the container groups results in optimal use of bandwidths when Ethernet capacities are transmitted via an SDH link.

Quick and easy interconnection can be achieved by using the current GFP, LCAS and VCAT standards. ancotel vtrans is also the perfect solution for applications such as IP transit, connections to peering platforms and hooking up Ethernet data lines.
