the story goes on

A mix of innovative products and bespoke services especially for the IT and telecoms industry – this is the concept with which ancotel GmbH started in 1999 in Frankfurt am Main. Ten years later, the international telecoms industry is inconceivable without the ancotel group. Behind the two company founders, there has also long been a strong crew of committed, highly competent employees: the ancotel success story remains an exciting one!

  • 1999

    ancotel GmbH was founded by Klaus-Jürgen Orth and Udo Müller in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

  • 2002

    Operations of Colocation GmbH was integrated – the new division “ancotel colocation services” was started with 3 employees.

  • 2003

    The colocation services were focussed on the international network POP. ancotel’s logo is registered as a trademark in Germany.

  • 2004

    Frankfurt is the most significant telecommunications location in continental Europe. Start of the vmmr concept in Kleyer 90.

  • 2005

    ancotel now has a team of 30 employees and 155 customers; the concept of “Kleyer 90” was established as a world wide brand. Start of the cooperation with telx, New York. Business premises at Kleyer 90 extendet by 1500 sqm. Kleyer 90 becomes a registered trademark and is therefore protected.

  • 2006

    Opening of ancotel Hong Kong Ltd. and ancotel UK Ltd., based on the vmmr concept. ancotel staff: 41, customers 261!

  • 2007

    First cnx carrier networking exchange in Frankfurt/ Main hosted by ancotel, de-cix, Frankfurt and telx, New York. More than 250 visitors.

  • 2008

    Now the ancotel team has 85 employees, more than 320 international carriers and ISPs and 20000+ interconnections. Cooperation between telx, New York City and ancotel developing the vmmr concept.

  • 2009

    ancotel turns 10 and now has more than 360 clients. A new vmmr location is established in New York. The cnX3 fair brings more than 330 participants to Frankfurt am Main. Increased involvement in the growth markets of eastern Europe. Its activities in western Europe, the Middle East and Asia are expanded.

  • 2010

    ENPM 2010 (European Network Planning Meeting) takes place in Frankfurt/ Main and is hosted by ancotel. The international ancotel network now comprises some 400 carriers.

  • 2011

    The 200th vmmr carrier within ancotel’s network is World Teleconnect International Holding B.V. OSS/ICDS Forum 2011 takes place in Frankfurt am Main and is hosted by ancotel. Launch of the ancotel vmmr Ethernet services. Establishment of the Digital Hub FrankfurtRheinMain e.V. with ancotel GmbH as a founding member. cnX5 celebrates its 5th birthday.
